The Path that led to a Proposal: Meghan and Hazen's Garden Proposal

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

I had the extreme privilege of photographing my beautiful Kappa Delta sister Meghan as she was being asked the most important question of her life. Hazen and I met a few weeks back at UNC Charlotte's Botanical Gardens to go over the plan, which he had meticulously thought out. We walked along the winding path that led to the most serene setting in all the gardens: a beautiful Koi pond with a gushing waterfall. The pond was lined with lush greenery and unique trees, which lent themselves out as the backdrop for their gorgeous engagement. Hazen prepared the pathway to the pond with pictures from their many years together, hanging from trees. The path wasn't just lined with photos, but rose petals on the walkway. At the end of the pathway was the grand finale of their beautiful walk through the gardens: a sparkling diamond ring, hanging from a thread in a tree branch. Meghan's face showed a million different emotions, but pure joy was the most prominent. After the two of them had shared their moment alone, their friends Kaitlyn and Jorge revealed themselves as the co-conspirators and guardians of the ring while Hazen was away picking up Meghan. I couldn't be more happy for the two of them. You can tell by spending just five minutes with the them how much they love each other, and share a dynamic that is so clearly in sync. Here are some of my most favorite moments from our session. Congratulations to Meghan and Hazen, I would wish you well, but you absolutely won't need it.
