Biltmore Birthday

Monday, October 13, 2014

Casey and I visit the Biltmore Estate frequently, when I need to get away from classes, work, and technology for a while. Every year we make the trip for my birthday, and this trip was just as special as any. There was an overcast, which is my favorite kind of weather (for pictures at least.) We had lunch at the Stable Cafe (swoon,) and indulged at the candy shop. The house is prepping for a Downton Abbey exhibit, and we won't even get into that excitement. I kept it simple and warm with a creme sweater and my new favorite vest, and since it called for rain, I opted for my Hunter boots. Getting some alone time away from school, and seeing my favorite spot in NC made for the best birthday possible.

Raindrops on the Green

I love the rain. There's something purifying about it that leaves a feeling of new beginnings behind. The way the trees and the house change color afterwards is beautiful, and I wanted to share how I style around the drizzles. I still have to look appropriate for work, but what I wear over those outfits is up to me. This Eddie Bauer jacket is my new baby since it's lightweight and holds plenty of hidden pockets. My rain boots are a favorite piece in my closet, and I try to wear them with all four seasons. My hair is pretty unmanageable in the rain so I usually hide behind a hat, and once I get to work it isn't as wet and frizzy as it can be (think Hagrid mixed with Mufasa.)  I don't want to push summer away just yet, but I am itching to wear more fall layers, colors, and fabrics! As always I hope you have an amazing week and try to stay dry with these unpredictable summer storms.
